The children of Louis and Zélie Martin

From 1860 to 1873, Louis and Zélie Martin had nine children (seven girls and two boys). Four of them died in their young age. Their five daughters all became nuns:

    • Marie-Louise (February 22, 1860 – January 19, 1940) – Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart, Carmelite nun in Lisieux.
    • Marie-Pauline (7 September 1861 to 28 juillet 1951) – Mother Agnes of Jesus, Carmelite nun in Lisieux.
    • Marie-Léonie (June 3, 1863 – June 16, 1941) – sister Françoise-Thérèse, Visitation at Caen.
    • Marie-Hélène (October 13, 1864 – February 22, 1870)
    • Marie-Joseph (September 20, 1866 – February 14, 1867)

 

    • Marie-Joseph-Jean-Baptiste (December 19, 1867 – September 24, 1868)

 

    • Marie-Céline (April 28, 1869 – February 25, 1959) – Sister Genevieve of the Holy Face, Carmelite nun in Lisieux.
    • Melanie Marie-Therese (August 16, 1870 – October 8, 1870)
    • Marie-Françoise-Thérèse, (January 2, 1873 – September 30, 1897) – sister Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, Carmelite nun in Lisieux, canonized in 1925.
